XC90 Auxiliary Heater Issue

Having a frustrating issue with my 2023 Volvo XC90 diesel. The auxiliary heater, or parking heater, won't activate. I'm getting an error, and my code reader shows an error stored in memory related to the heating system. The car has 170127 km on it. Anyone else experienced this? I suspect it might be the glow plug, because when that's defective, the heat control goes crazy, but I'm not sure where to start.

I had something similar happen in my XC90, though I can't remember the year. The ventilation system seemed totally messed up, and the auxiliary heater wouldn't kick on. Was it throwing any specific codes?

No specific codes displayed on the screen, but the reader pointed towards an issue with the heater core. Was that your experience too? Did replacing the glow plug solve the problem for you, or was it something else?

Yep, that sounds exactly like what I went through. I didn't try fixing it myself. I took it straight to the workshop. They confirmed it was the glow plug for the auxiliary heater and replaced it. Problem solved. Best to get it checked out properly.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to the shop. They quoted me around 440€, which sounds reasonable. Hopefully, it's just the glow plug and nothing more serious with the heating system!
