XC90 brake booster pressure sensor failure
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Volvo XC90 hybrid exhibited an error message and poor braking performance, with diagnostics indicating a brake booster pressure sensor failure. This issue was potentially linked to recent brake bleeding. Incorrect bleeding can introduce air into the system, affecting sensor readings and braking efficiency. The solution involved re-bleeding the brake system and replacing the pressure sensor, which resolved the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not sure if it was bled correctly. What symptoms did you experience exactly?

My XC90 exhibited almost identical symptoms – error message and noticeably weaker braking. It turned out the brake system hadn't been bled properly after some work on the hydraulic brakes. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to have the brake system checked. It will save you a lot of headaches. The pressure sensor might be damaged.

You were spot on! Took it to the workshop and it was indeed the brake system bleeding. They re-bled it and replaced the pressure sensor. Cost me 90€ Thanks for the help!

I had a similar issue with my XC90. Was the brake system bled correctly? Incorrect bleeding can definitely cause problems with the pressure sensor, as air in the system can lead to inaccurate readings and reduced braking performance. Have you checked the ABS system for any related error codes?
