XC90 damping adjustment fault
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Volvo XC90 is experiencing a 'damping adjustment fault' error, leading to a warning light and a noticeably bumpier ride. The issue is suspected to be related to the suspension system. A similar past issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a faulty connection in the suspension system. The recommended solution is to visit a workshop, where it was confirmed that a defective cable connection was the cause, and it was repaired.

Thanks for the quick reply! The fault seems pretty permanent, sadly. It's there every time I start the car. Regarding fuses, I did have a quick look, but honestly, I wouldn't really know what to look for. Is there any particular fuse that usually causes this kind of issue?

Okay, permanent fault sounds like it could be more than just a fuse. With my Espace, it turned out to be a faulty connection in the suspension system, like a loose or corroded plug. That could explain the error and the bumpy ride. If I were you, I would visit the workshop.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I brought my car to the shop like you recommended, and you were spot on. A defective cable connection was indeed the culprit, with repair costs totaling 95€. The mechanic said the bumpy ride made him wanna cry.

Oh, that sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my 2016 Renault Espace a while back. Same symptoms: bumpy ride, warning lights, the works. It felt like I was riding a bucking bronco! I am no expert but I wonder, is the fault intermittent or permanent? Did you check the fuses?
