XC90 emergency call system malfunction

Hey, I've got a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2008 Volvo XC90, gasoline engine, around 123k km on the clock. The emergency call system seems to have gone kaput. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, plus an error message and warning light both showing up in the speedometer. From what I've read, it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else run into this?

Whoa, that SOS thing is annoying! I had something similar happen in my XC90, though I can't remember the exact year. Was it throwing any specific diagnostic codes?

Diagnostic codes? I haven't dug that deep yet. Was it a big deal for you to fix?

Well, I couldn't figure it out myself. Ended up taking it to a shop, and they sorted it pretty quick. Yeah, sounds like the same gremlin. Honestly, just take it to a workshop and let them find the defective part.
