XC90 Hybrid Intake Leak

Misfires? I haven't noticed any blatant misfires, but maybe I'm missing something subtle. Where should I focus when inspecting the vacuum hoses? Are there areas known for failure in the XC90's air intake? Or should I just take it to a workshop?

Given the symptoms, a leak in the intake system is probable. You could try to pinpoint it, but those hoses can be tricky to access. You may not have the tools for proper diagnosis, like a smoke test. Considering potential complications, consulting a qualified technician might be prudent. Air intake leaks can lead to more serious problems if left unaddressed.

Thanks for the insight! I suspected it was beyond me. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed a leaking intake hose! The repair cost 100€, a small price to pay. I appreciate your guidance.

Hissing, increased fuel consumption, and a check engine light often point to an air intake leak, likely post air filter. The intake manifold and hoses are prime suspects. Have you checked the vacuum hoses for cracks or disconnections? Even a small leak can cause those symptoms. Are you experiencing any engine misfires? That could indicate a lean fuel mixture.
