XC90 Knock Sensor Cable Issue

Has anyone experienced a knock sensor issue with their 2019 Volvo XC90 gasoline? Check engine light is on, fuel consumption is up, and the engine idles unevenly. Diagnostics point to a defective knock sensor, and I suspect a bad cable or plug.

I had a similar issue with my XC90 a while back. Check engine light, rough idling… sounds familiar. Did the diagnostics specifically point to the knock sensor, or did they throw any other codes? What mileage are you at?

The diagnostic pointed specifically to the knock sensor. No other codes were present. My mileage is currently at 232712 km. Was your issue also cable related?

Yes, the fault code was clearly related to the knock sensor. Considering your mileage and the symptoms, it does seem likely the connector or wiring is the issue. I would recommend having a workshop inspect the wiring harness before replacing the sensor itself.

Thank you for the advice. It was indeed a defective cable connection. A local workshop replaced the faulty cable for 95€. The warning light is gone, and the engine runs fine again.
