Good point! I'm using a fairly basic scan tool. What specific error codes did you see on your BMW, and did they point directly to the chip tuning?

The error codes on my BMW indicated inconsistencies in the fuel-air mixture and ignition timing, which the workshop attributed to the chip tuning affecting the engine management system. I recommend visiting a workshop.

You nailed it! I took it to a reputable shop, and they confirmed the dodgy chip tuning was causing all the problems. They reflashed the ECU, and everything's running smooth again. Cost me 180€, but worth it for the peace of mind. Thanks for the help!

I experienced a similar issue with my BMW 3 Series after aftermarket modifications. It also presented with reduced engine power and an error stored in the error memory. Have you checked the error codes with a more advanced scan tool?
