XC90 start stop issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Volvo XC90 is experiencing issues with its start-stop system, including unexpected engine shutdowns and warning lights. The problem is suspected to be related to a heavily discharged or defective battery. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by replacing the auxiliary battery, which was confirmed as the cause in this case as well. After replacing the battery, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

When you say 'similar', how similar are we talking? Did you have the exact same symptoms – error codes, engine stalling, the whole shebang? And what was the culprit in your case?

Indeed! Identical symptoms. Turns out, the auxiliary battery in my Mercedes had given up the ghost. I'd advise a workshop. I do not have the required expertise to help you further.

Thanks. Dropped it off at the shop, and you nailed it – the battery was toast. 290€ later, and it's purring like a kitten again. Appreciate the help!

Hello. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your Volvo XC90’s start-stop system. Funnily enough, I had a similar problem with my Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Does the issue occur frequently?
