XC90 Transmission Problems

I'm having trouble with my 2020 Volvo XC90 hybrid. It has 143623 km on it. The transmission seems to be acting up. I can't shift with the paddle shifters, the gearbox is slipping and shifting roughly, and there are grinding noises when it shifts. Also, the paddle shifters respond very slowly, and sometimes the gearbox goes into emergency mode. I scanned it and there's an error stored related to the transmission control unit. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

That sounds suspiciously like a defective transmission control unit. I had similar issues with my XC90. What error code did you pull?

Thanks for the quick reply. The error code pointed to the TCU. Did you experience the same symptoms I described? And did replacing the control unit solve the problem?

Yes, those symptoms are familiar. Slipping, grinding, emergency mode... the works. Replacing the TCU completely resolved the issue. I'd advise taking it to a trusted workshop to confirm the diagnosis and get a quote for the repair. The defective control unit was the culprit.
