XC90 Windshield Washer Heater Fault

I'm having an issue with my 2010 Volvo XC90 diesel. The windshield washer heater isn't working. The error memory stores a fault, and the spray nozzles are frozen when it's cold. I think it's a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone seen this before? What did you do?

Hey, I've got an XC90 too and had similar symptoms last winter. Frozen nozzles are a pain! I didn't get an error code though. Have you checked the washer motor itself? Sometimes those get gunked up and can cause problems that seem like a heater malfunction. Also, the heating element fuse might be worth a look.

Thanks! When you say 'gunked up', do you mean cleaning might help? I haven't checked the washer motor directly yet, I thought the error code pointed to the heater circuit. Do you remember where the heating element fuse is? I couldn't find it in the manual.

Yeah, sometimes just cleaning the connections on the motor can help, it's worth a shot. But if you're getting a specific error code related to the heater, and you've checked the fuses, it might be best to take it to a workshop. I ended up doing that and they sorted it quickly.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. I'll check the motor connection, but it sounds like a workshop visit is in order. I got a quote for around 95€ for the repair, which seems reasonable, especially considering the likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection.
