Xcent ABS and Steering Problems

I'm stressing. My 2015 Hyundai Xcent with a gasoline engine has a tire pressure warning light that won't go away. It came on a few days ago. I checked the tire pressures, and one was low. I inflated it to the correct pressure, but the light came back on. Now the ABS light is on, the steering wheel vibrates, and the power steering feels weak. Could a low tire cause all this?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Hyundai Xcent owner experienced a persistent tire pressure warning light, followed by the ABS light activating and issues with steering vibration and weak power steering. The problem was traced to a faulty valve in one tire, which was causing air loss and triggering the vehicle's stability control system. Replacing the defective valve resolved the issues, eliminating the warning lights and restoring normal steering function.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like more than just low tire pressure. I had a similar issue on my old car, though it wasn't a Hyundai. The ABS light and steering issues point to something affecting the stability control system. Are you certain you got the tire pressure correct? Is it just one tire losing air, or multiple?

I double-checked the pressure, and it matched the recommended PSI. It's just the front passenger side tire losing air, and it's definitely going down faster than the others. Could a bad valve in the tire cause these other issues?

If it's just one tire consistently losing pressure, a defective valve is a strong possibility, and yes, it absolutely could be messing with your ABS and power steering. Modern cars are incredibly sensitive to differences in wheel speed. Your car probably thinks the tire is flat, which then triggers the ABS and impacts the power steering. I'd recommend taking it to a shop and getting that valve checked out ASAP.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to my mechanic, and you were spot on. It was indeed a faulty valve in the tire. They replaced it, re-inflated the tire, and reset the warning lights. Total cost was around 280€. All the symptoms are gone now, so the ABS is no longer active. I really appreciate the help!
