Xcent low DPF pressure
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Hyundai Xcent diesel is experiencing a warning light, reduced engine power, smoke during acceleration, and a strong exhaust smell. The OBD reader indicates 'Diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure too low,' suggesting a potential issue with the exhaust back pressure sensor. A similar case involved a faulty sensor, which was resolved by replacing it at a workshop. Checking the sensor wiring and cleaning it are suggested steps, but professional inspection is recommended to avoid further damage.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the wiring yet, that's next. Where is the sensor located? Is it easily accessible, or do I need to remove half the exhaust system to get to it? What was your eventual fix?

It's a pain to get to, tucked away near the DPF. I’d strongly suggest getting it checked at a workshop. Cleaning the sensor or fiddling with the wiring may cause more damage than good. My issue ended up being a faulty sensor - cost around 250€ to get replaced.

Thanks a lot for the insight! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. Knowing it was the sensor for you gives me a good starting point. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor! Total cost was 245€ including labor. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I had something similar with my Xcent, though I didn't check the OBD codes. Reduced power and a funky smell were definitely present. Have you checked the sensor wiring or tried cleaning the sensor itself? Could just be a dodgy connection or some gunk buildup.
