XRV Bypass Valve Error and Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Honda XRV owner reported a bypass valve malfunction and engine overheating, suspecting issues with the vacuum system or a coolant leak. Another person suggested checking the exhaust system for blockages, as this could cause back pressure and trigger the error. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a faulty sensor, which was resolved at a workshop without cost.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought of the exhaust system. So, a blockage there could really cause a consequential error with the bypass valve? Is there anything specific I should look for when inspecting the exhaust?

Yes, that's what happened to me. The sensor was just doing its job, reporting the symptom. I'd take it to a workshop. They can use a pressure gauge to test the exhaust back pressure and confirm if that's the root cause.

Thanks for the insight! Turns out it was a faulty sensor, triggering the bypass valve error. Got it sorted for 0€ at the workshop. I appreciate your help!

I had something similar happen with my XRV. Check your exhaust system. Sometimes a blockage there can cause back pressure, leading to overheating and triggering that bypass valve error. It's like a clogged artery causing problems in the heart.
