XRV power window failure after battery replacement
Summary of the thread
After replacing the battery in a 2023 Honda XRV, the power windows stopped functioning, and an error regarding window regulator initialization appeared. This issue may be due to the window motor's memory being disrupted. A suggested solution is to perform a window reset by holding the window switch down and then up for 10 seconds each. If this doesn't resolve the problem, a visit to the dealer for a BCM reflash might be necessary.

Whoa, thanks for the tip! So, just to be clear, I hold the switch DOWN even though the window isn't moving at all, right? And then do the same holding it UP? Does it matter which window I start with?

Yeah, exactly! Hold the switch down even though nothing's happening for a good 10 seconds. Then up for 10 seconds. That's how I got mine working. If that doesn't do it, you might need to get the BCM reflashed, it is a dealer job. I ended up at the workshop. Cost me around 300€ for diagnostics and to be programmed. Good luck!

Thanks a bunch for the help! Tried the window reset thing, but no dice. Sounds like I'm heading to the shop... Ugh, there goes 290€! I appreciate you sharing your experience, though, at least I know what to expect.

Dude, I feel your pain! I had something similar happen with my Honda XRV (don't remember the exact year, but it's an XRV alright). Replacing the battery can sometimes mess with the window motor's memory. Have you tried doing a window reset? Basically, holding the window switch down for 10 seconds after it's fully down, and then holding it up for 10 seconds after it's fully up. Worth a shot!
