Xsara ABS Fault

My 2002 Citroen Xsara diesel is acting up. The ABS lamp is constantly lit, and the whole ABS system seems totally dead. I ran a diagnostic scan, and it's showing a lateral acceleration sensor fault. Anyone seen this before? I'm pulling my hair out here!

A lateral acceleration sensor fault on a Citroen Xsara of that age often stems from a defective control unit. Have you inspected the wiring harness and connectors leading to the sensor and the ABS control module? A discontinuity there can mimic a sensor failure. Also, what specific diagnostic trouble code (DTC) are you retrieving? This will help narrow down the potential fault pathways.

I did check the wiring as best I could, didn't see anything obvious, but honestly, I'm no electrician. The DTC is C1350, if that helps. So, you're saying the control unit itself could be the culprit? That sounds expensive...

C1350 does indeed point towards a lateral acceleration sensor malfunction, and in many cases, the affected control unit is the source of the problem. Given the age of the vehicle and the diagnostic evidence, I would advise consulting a qualified technician for a thorough evaluation. The cost of repair, including parts and labor, could approach 1000€.

Sounds like I'm heading to the garage then. Appreciate the confirmation, at least I know what I'm potentially in for. Wish me luck!
