Xsara automatic transmission issues

I have a 2002 Citroen Xsara diesel with 88779 km. The transmission indicator and check engine light illuminate intermittently. The automatic transmission enters emergency mode, resulting in abnormal shifting, slippage, unclean gear changes and grinding noises. Error codes are stored. Initial diagnostics suspect a defective radiator oil pressure, possibly related to cable or plug connections. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms? Any insights into leak detection, potential coolant leaks, or testing the pressure gauge/sensor, and oil cooler function would be greatly appreciated.

I had similar symptoms on my Xsara, although not exactly the same. The grinding noise is concerning. If the pressure gauge is faulty, it can definitely cause the transmission to act erratically. Did you check the transmission fluid level and condition before looking at the radiator oil pressure?

Thank you for your input. Yes, I checked the transmission fluid level, and it appears normal. I am focusing on the radiator oil pressure due to the error codes pointing in that direction. Was your issue ultimately related to a faulty pressure sensor or a leak within the oil cooler circuit itself?

In my case, it turned out to be a faulty connection on the pressure sensor. However, given the grinding noises, it might be best to get a professional diagnosis before something gets worse. I would take it to a reputable workshop for a proper leak detection test and a thorough inspection of the transmission.

I appreciate the advice. Following your recommendation, I took the vehicle to a workshop. Indeed, it was a defective cable connection, as initially suspected. The repair cost 95€ Thank you for your assistance.
