Xsara Cold Start Injector Problem

My 2001 Citroen Xsara with a gasoline engine has a cold start problem at 235351 km. It runs poorly when cold, rough idle and misfires. Starting is also harder. I suspect a faulty cold start injector. Anyone had similar symptoms? I've checked spark plugs and fuel pressure. Next step is injector test, but I welcome suggestions.

I had something similar happen on my Xsara. Cold start injector is probably the culprit. Does it clear up after the engine warms up, or does it continue to run rough? Have you checked the resistance of the injector? When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter? That can cause issues with fuel delivery too.

The rough running diminishes when the engine warms up. I haven't measured the injector resistance yet, but it's a priority. I replaced the fuel filter about 30,000 km ago. Are there specific resistance values or diagnostic indicators I should look for when evaluating the injector?

Mine was exactly the same ran fine when warm. I never got around to testing the resistance myself. I ended up taking it to a local garage. They hooked it up to their diagnostic computer and confirmed it was the injector. Cost me 515€ all in to get it sorted. Probably cheaper if you do it yourself, but I just didn't have the time.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems prudent to pursue a professional diagnosis. I'll schedule an appointment with my workshop and report back.
