Xsara Coolant Level Warning

My 2006 Citroen Xsara, diesel engine, with 122082 km, is showing a 'coolant level too low' warning. The check engine light is on, and the error is also stored. What could be the cause?

Hey! I had a similar problem with my Xsara. Is your cooling fan kicking in as it should? Have you checked the radiator cap? That was where I spotted dried radiator fluid.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the cooling fan, and I didn't see anything when checking the radiator cap. Could there be air pockets somewhere?

Air pockets are possible, but I doubt it if you haven't opened the system recently. If the radiator cap is fine, I recommend visiting a workshop.

You were right, it was the radiator cap after all. It was leaking very slowly. Replaced it for 52€ and the problem is gone. Thanks!
