Xsara Windshield Washer Heater Error

My 2005 Citroen Xsara diesel is throwing an error related to the windshield washer heater. The error's stored, and when it gets cold, the spray nozzles freeze up. I suspect it's the heater circuit. I've checked the fuse box, all seems okay, and wiggled the connectors I can find around the washer motor, but no luck. Anyone else had this? Is it even worth fixing?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar headache with my Xsara. Same symptoms, frozen nozzles in winter. Did you check the connection TO the nozzles themselves? They can get a bit corroded, causing a bad connection and preventing the heating element from working. If not, it will be the cable, as you suspect. It's a pain!

Good shout! I haven't checked the connections right at the nozzles – figured they were just simple tubes. So, you reckon it's worth pulling the nozzles and cleaning up the contacts? Is it easy to get to them, or am I going to be taking half the car apart?

Well, easy is a relative term! But yeah, check them. If it's not that, honestly, I was pulling my hair out before I just caved and took it to a workshop. They diagnosed a faulty connection, probably the plug, and sorted it pretty quick. Cost about 95€, which I thought was reasonable to save me the hassle. Worth considering if you're banging your head against a wall.

Cheers for the advice! I'll give the nozzle connections a look this weekend, and if that doesn't fix it, I think I'll just bite the bullet and take it to a garage. 95€ sounds alright to be rid of it. Thanks again for your help!
