Xterra battery draining

I'm having a weird issue with my 2007 Nissan Xterra (gasoline engine). It's got about 80k kilometers on it. Recently, the battery keeps draining like crazy. I'm getting an error message on the speedometer, the lights are flickering or seem weak, and I even pulled an error code related to low voltage. The engine is getting harder and harder to start. Could this be a defective battery sensor?

I had a similar problem with my Xterra. Sounds like a parasitic draw, like a vampire sucking the life out of your battery. Have you checked for anything left on, like interior lights or accessories plugged into the cigarette lighter? Also, do you know if your alternator is charging the battery properly?

Thanks for the reply! I've made sure nothing is left on inside the car. How did you figure out it was a parasitic draw on your Xterra, and what fixed it for you?

I took it to a mechanic to diagnose the issue. It turned out the battery sensor was faulty and was causing the battery to discharge even when the car was off. They replaced the sensor, and the problem went away.

Took my Xterra to the shop, and you were spot on! It was the battery sensor. They replaced it, and now everything seems normal. The total repair cost was 315€ Thanks so much for the help!
