Xterra transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Nissan Xterra with 43,519 km was experiencing transmission issues, including odd shifting, a warning light, and emergency mode activation. The fluid levels were checked and found to be okay, but undervoltage was suspected as a potential cause. A mechanic confirmed the problem was due to worn automatic transmission oil, likely from undervoltage, and resolved it by flushing the system and replacing the oil, restoring normal function.

Thanks! Any ideas on what to do when I get it checked?

If you're seeing those symptoms, especially emergency mode, a workshop is best. It sounds like a transmission problem, and they can diagnose it properly.

Thanks! A local mechanic confirmed worn automatic transmission oil, likely from undervoltage as I suspected. They flushed the system and replaced the oil for 240€. The shifting is normal again, and the light is off!

Sounds like a transmission issue. When did you last check the fluid? Getting it checked might be worth it.
