Xterra Transmission Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Nissan Xterra is experiencing transmission issues, including unresponsive paddle shifters, gearbox slipping, grinding noises, and emergency mode activation, with error codes pointing to the transmission control unit. The problem is likely due to a faulty transmission control unit, as confirmed by a mechanic. Replacing the defective unit resolved the issues, restoring proper shifting functionality.

The fluid level seems fine, and it doesn't look or smell burnt. I'm getting a code indicating a fault in the transmission control unit. Did your Citroen throw the same code pointing to car computer issues? Was the automotive ECU truly at fault?

Yeah, it was almost the same error code. Definitely sounds like the control unit. Given that and the symptoms, especially emergency mode, it's probably the affected control unit defective. I would visit a workshop. It's not a job you want to do yourself, trust me.

Thanks for the input. I took it to a mechanic, and they confirmed it was a defective transmission control unit. The replacement cost me 1000€, but now it is shifting well again. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my 2012 Citroen C4, though it wasn't exactly the same. Gearbox slipping, emergency mode...the works. Have you checked the basics, like the transmission fluid level and condition? What diagnostic codes are you pulling from the error memory?
