Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the serpentine belt yet, that's a good shout. But if it's the alternator, would that explain all the symptoms, including the starting problem and the error code specifically pointing to the generator?

Indeed. While a worn serpentine belt can impact alternator performance, the combination of symptoms and the error code lean more towards a defective generator, an alternator issue. Given the complexity of hybrid systems and the stored error, I'd strongly recommend visiting a reputable workshop for a thorough diagnosis. A faulty starter motor can also manifest like that.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the confirmation. I'll book it in with a workshop ASAP and see what they say. Hopefully, it won't cost me an arm and a leg. I will post the resolution. The repair costed 960€. It was a defective generator.

Greetings. I had a similar problem with my XTrail – though I can't quite recall the production year. The symptoms you describe, particularly the flickering lights and power reduction, do suggest a generator issue. Have you inspected the serpentine belt for wear or damage? Also, could there be an alternator issue with your car electronics?
