XTrail overheating air flap fault

Hi, I've got a 2000 Nissan XTrail with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on, and the engine seems to be overheating. I've heard something about an active air flap fault. Could this be the culprit?

Active air flap, huh? I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 308. Check engine light and overheating... Sounds familiar. Is it possible the electromechanism is defective?

Defective electromechanism? How did you figure that out? What exactly does that do?

Well, with my Peugeot, the flap motor was shot. It controls the air intake, right? When it fails, the air flow isn't regulated properly, causing the overheating. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and a diagnostic scan confirmed it. Cost me a fortune to fix, I tell you!

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I need to get it checked out professionally. Looks like I'm heading to the workshop. They quoted me 590€ for the repair.
