XTrail Uneven Engine Running

I'm experiencing an uneven engine running issue with my 2015 Nissan XTrail, gasoline engine, with 175365 km. The check engine light is on, and an error is stored. I'm also noticing jerking during acceleration. Could this be a faulty ignition coil, crankshaft sensor, or fuel injectors? I've also considered a timing belt issue or a possible engine misfire. Any insights?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my old Volvo V70. Turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system. Have you checked for any hissing sounds or visible damage around the exhaust manifold and down the exhaust pipe?

Thank you for the quick response. I haven't specifically checked for exhaust leaks. Where exactly on the exhaust system should I be focusing? Is it easily visible, or would I need to get under the car for a thorough inspection?

Best bet is to get under the car. The leak might be small and hard to spot from above. Just be careful when the engine is hot. If you're not comfortable, I would just take it to a workshop and have them check it out. They can do a smoke test to pinpoint the exact location of the leak.

Thanks again for your help! You were spot on. I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system. The repair cost was 265€. Runs smoothly now!
