Yaris ABS Fault

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2008 Toyota Yaris diesel. The ABS lamp lights up, and I'm experiencing traction problems, which lead to a failure of the ABS system. I've run a basic diagnostic, but it points to a speed signal fault. Anyone experienced something similar?

Hey, I've got a Yaris too. Your problem sounds familiar. Did the diagnostic say anything specific about which sensor might be at fault? Or maybe the control unit?

Thanks for the reply! The diagnostic was pretty vague, just flagged the speed signal input as malfunctioning. It didn't pinpoint a specific sensor or the control unit itself. Could a defective control unit really cause all these symptoms?

Yeah, a defective control unit can definitely cause those symptoms. ABS systems are complex, and if the unit isn't processing the speed signals correctly, it can trigger all sorts of warnings and malfunctions. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop for a more in-depth diagnostic. They'll be able to isolate the fault for sure.

Thanks a lot for your help and advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – turns out the ABS control unit was defective. Repair cost me around 1000€ but at least it's sorted now.
