Yaris ABS Lamp and Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Toyota Yaris Hybrid experienced persistent ABS lamp illumination and system failures, with a diagnostic scan indicating a lateral acceleration sensor fault. The issue was linked to erratic readings from the sensor, likely due to a defective control unit. The solution involved replacing the affected control unit and recalibrating the system, resolving the safety warnings and restoring ABS functionality.

That's interesting! When you say faulty, do you mean it was sending incorrect readings, or was the sensor completely dead? Also, do you remember what the repair ended up costing you?

In my case, it was sending erratic readings. It wasn't completely dead, but enough to trigger the errors. I never got to repair my car myself. Based on the error description and symptoms, the most likely cause is an affected control unit that is indeed defective and needs to be replaced. The workshop quoted about 1000€.

Thanks so much for the detailed info! I took it to a trusted workshop and you were spot on – the lateral acceleration sensor was indeed the culprit. They've replaced the affected control unit and recalibrated everything. So, it ended up costing me almost exactly 1000€. All safety warnings are gone and ABS is happy again!

I had a similar issue with my Yaris. The ABS and stability control were going crazy. It turned out to be a faulty lateral sensor. Check the yaw rate readings too, they might be off.
