Yaris AC Not Cooling
Summary of the thread
The AC in a 2014 Yaris diesel is not engaging when the button is pressed, leading to concerns about potential issues with the valves controlling refrigerant flow. Before proceeding with costly valve replacements, it's suggested to check basic components like the blower motor and refrigerant levels, as a leak could cause the system to shut down. Ultimately, a professional diagnosis is recommended to accurately identify the problem and avoid unnecessary expenses.

Thanks. The blower motor works fine. How can I check the refrigerant level without special equipment? I don't want to mess anything up or spend too much, but I want to avoid unnecessary costs.

If the blower's good, that helps. Checking refrigerant properly needs the right tools. Since you suspect the valves, you might be right, but it's AC system specific. A workshop with AC diagnostics is the safest bet to pinpoint the problem before throwing parts at it. Could save you money.

Thanks, I'll get a professional diagnosis to find the faulty part. I'm booking an appointment with a workshop specializing in car AC. Repair cost is about 1000€ for valve replacement and system recharge. Thanks for steering me away from wasting time.

I've seen similar AC problems. Before replacing valves, which can be pricey, have you checked the basics? Is the blower motor working? And have you had the refrigerant level checked? A leak could shut the system down. Just ruling out the simple stuff first.
