Yaris bumpy ride warning light

My 2001 Toyota Yaris with a gasoline engine has 185k km. The ride's become super bumpy, and the speedometer's flashing a warning light. The error memory has also stored an error. Feels like I'm riding a bucking bronco. Any ideas? Could it be the damping adjustment?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Yaris. The 'bumpy ride' and the warning light are dead giveaways. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the damping components? That was the culprit for me. Think of it like a loose wire on a lamp – connection is broken, so things don't work right.

Interesting! Where exactly are those connections located? Are they easy to get to? I'm not a total newbie when it comes to cars, but I'm also not a mechanic. Any tips on what to look for specifically?

They should be located near the suspension components, but the Yaris has those tucked away pretty well. Access can be tricky without the right tools and a bit of know-how. Given the error code and the symptoms, and the fact that the cable or plug connection is likely defective I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. It's like trying to diagnose a flickering TV – sometimes you just need a professional to check the circuits.

Thanks for the advice! You were spot on. Took it to the shop, and it turned out to be a faulty connection, exactly as you described. 95€ later, and it's riding smooth again. Really appreciate the help!
