Yaris Camshaft Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Toyota Yaris diesel with 75,000 km is experiencing rough starts, stalling at idle, and a persistent check engine light, indicating a camshaft sensor error. The suspected cause is a faulty encoder wheel on the camshafts. A similar issue was resolved by addressing the camshaft sensor and encoder wheel, which is a known fault, and the solution involved a repair cost of approximately 700€.

Thanks for the reply! I did check the wiring, and it looks okay visually, but I haven't tested it with a multimeter yet. Was your issue definitely the camshaft sensor, or did it turn out to be something else?

Yeah, after messing around with it for ages, I took it to a workshop, and they said it was the camshaft sensor and, apparently, the encoder wheel was the actual issue. They said it's a common fault. Honestly, I was just happy to get it sorted. Cost me about 700€ though!

Right, that's what I feared. Thanks for confirming! Looks like I'm heading to the mechanic. Just got the quote: 695€. Ouch. At least I know what I'm in for!

Dude, I had almost the exact same thing happen with my Yaris! Rough starts, stalling… drove me nuts. I didn't get a code reader on it, but it sounds super similar. Have you checked the wiring to the sensor? Sometimes it's just a loose or corroded connection.
