Yaris Climate Control Failure
Summary of the thread
The climate control system in a 2006 Toyota Yaris with a diesel engine was completely non-functional, with the panel dead, low heating output, and an inoperative AC. The issue was suspected to be a simple fix, such as a blown fuse or a loose connection. Upon further investigation by a mechanic, the problem was identified as a faulty connector in the wiring harness, which was repaired, restoring full functionality to the climate control system.

Wiring harness, you say? Is that difficult to get to? I'm not the most mechanically gifted. Is it something I can check without taking half the dashboard apart, or should I leave it to the pros?

Well, on the Megane, it was a bit of a pain to get to, but doable with some patience. Considering the symptoms and the error code, a defective cable or plug connection is very likely. But honestly, if you are not comfortable with electrics, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. It was a faulty connector in the wiring harness. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Everything is working perfectly now.

Hmm, sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane, although the symptoms weren't exactly the same. Climate control went haywire. Have you checked the wiring harness and electrical connectors behind the climate control panel? Could be a loose or corroded connection.
