Yaris Climate Control Failure

Hi, I'm having trouble with the climate control in my 2006 Toyota Yaris, diesel engine. The panel is completely dead. The car has 119323 km. I ran a scan and it showed an error stored in the memory. Plus, the heating output is way too low, and the AC won't even switch on. Could this be a fuse or something simple?

Hmm, sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane, although the symptoms weren't exactly the same. Climate control went haywire. Have you checked the wiring harness and electrical connectors behind the climate control panel? Could be a loose or corroded connection.

Wiring harness, you say? Is that difficult to get to? I'm not the most mechanically gifted. Is it something I can check without taking half the dashboard apart, or should I leave it to the pros?

Well, on the Megane, it was a bit of a pain to get to, but doable with some patience. Considering the symptoms and the error code, a defective cable or plug connection is very likely. But honestly, if you are not comfortable with electrics, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. It was a faulty connector in the wiring harness. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Everything is working perfectly now.
