Yaris Diesel Intake Manifold Flap
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Toyota Yaris with a diesel engine is experiencing reduced power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, a loud hissing sound, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the intake manifold flap control, possibly due to a vacuum leak or a defective flap control switch. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and repaired, which resolved the issue in a similar case by replacing the defective component.

Yes, the engine light did come on. What exactly was the issue with your Yaris and how was it resolved?

Okay, engine light definitely points to something serious! In my case, it was the intake manifold flap control switch that was defective. The whole thing was replaced, and the problem went away. Honestly, with these kinds of airflow issues, you really want a professional to take a look. Best bet is to get it diagnosed properly at a workshop.

Thank you for the information. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the intake manifold flap control. The repair cost 465€, but the car is running normally again.

Sounds familiar. I've got a Yaris diesel too, and those symptoms... reduced power, the weird jerking... Did the engine light come on? A hissing noise is never good. Could be a vacuum leak related to the flap control. But is it really worth fixing yourself without proper diagnostics?
