Yaris hybrid ECU error and power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota Yaris hybrid experienced reduced engine power and ECU errors, with diagnostics suggesting a defective ECU and possibly a main relay issue. The problem was initially intermittent but worsened over time. A similar case was resolved by identifying and replacing a defective main relay, which fixed the ECU malfunction. The solution involved a workshop visit and a relay replacement, effectively resolving the issue.

Indeed, the issue was intermittent initially, gradually worsening over time. Could you elaborate on the specific symptoms you observed and the eventual resolution to your problem? Any details regarding the diagnostic process or specific error codes would be greatly appreciated.

My Yaris was doing the exact same thing. Error codes galore, power cutting out randomly. After a while, it got so bad I had to get it towed to a workshop. They pinpointed it pretty quick. You might want to just skip ahead and get it checked out.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate the advice. As it turns out, you were spot on. A visit to the workshop confirmed a defective main relay, which was indeed causing the ECU malfunction. The relay was replaced for a cost of 120€, resolving the issue entirely.

Sounds familiar. I have a Yaris hybrid as well. Had a similar problem with the ECU throwing errors and power loss. Was it intermittent at first, then got worse?
