Yaris Hybrid uneven engine running

My 2017 Toyota Yaris Hybrid with 55000 km is running unevenly. The check engine light is on, and the error memory has stored an error. When I accelerate, it feels like the car is jerking. Could this be a crankshaft sensor issue or something with the spark plugs? I've also read about engine misfires and oxygen sensors. It almost feels like a rough idle, even when I'm moving. Any ideas?

I have a Yaris Hybrid too. I had a similar issue a while back. The symptoms sound familiar – check engine light and jerking acceleration. Did you notice any difference in the sound of the exhaust, or perhaps a smell?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically noticed anything unusual about the exhaust sound or smell, but I also haven't been paying close attention to it. What was the cause of the problem in your case?

In my case, the uneven engine running and the jerking were due to a small leak in the exhaust system. It was enough to throw off the engine's readings and cause the issues you're describing. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked properly.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right – it turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system. The repair cost me about 265€. Runs like new again!
