Yaris knock sensor issue

My 2021 Toyota Yaris with a gasoline engine has the malfunction indicator lamp on at 104152 kilometers, higher fuel consumption, and uneven idling. I suspect a defective knock sensor, possibly the cable or plug. Anyone seen this?

Hey! Sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Check engine light, rough engine. Turned out to be a faulty sensor connection. Did you check the harness for damage or corrosion? Sometimes it's just a loose connection.

Thanks! Did your Opel have the elevated fuel consumption? I checked the connection for defects, but maybe a closer look is needed. Any particular area of the harness that caused trouble?

Yeah, the increased fuel consumption was definitely there, along with the rough idling. It's worth getting it checked by a workshop if you're not confident diagnosing it yourself. They can run proper diagnostics and pinpoint the exact problem. Save you a lot of guesswork and potential damage.

I appreciate your advice. I took it to a local mechanic, and as suspected, the knock sensor cable was defective. Replaced it for 95€. Runs smoothly again.
