Yaris NOx Sensor and Exhaust Leak
Summary of the thread
The 2000 Toyota Yaris had a check engine light issue related to the NOx sensor, alongside a slight exhaust leak. The problem was traced to a loose and corroded plug connection to the NOx sensor, which was resolved by cleaning it. The exhaust leak was a separate issue caused by a crack in the exhaust manifold, which was repaired by welding.

I'll check the wiring and plug. Where exactly is the NOx sensor located? Is it near the catalytic converter, or further downstream in the exhaust system?

It's typically located near the catalytic converter. Given the age of the car and the exhaust leak, it might be wise to have a workshop take a look at the whole exhaust system including the catalytic converter, especially if you are unsure.

You were spot on! The plug to the NOx sensor was loose and corroded. Cleaned it up, and the error's gone. The exhaust leak was a separate issue, a small crack in the exhaust manifold. Had it welded for 95€ Thanks for the help!

A faulty NOx sensor can trigger the check engine light and store an error. An exhaust leak, however, is often a separate issue. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and plug connection? A defective cable or connection can mimic a sensor failure.
