Yaris Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Toyota Yaris diesel is experiencing issues with the outside temperature sensor, leading to an error code, malfunctioning air conditioning, freezing spray nozzles, and ineffective mirror heating. The problem is suspected to be due to a faulty sensor or a poor cable or plug connection. The solution involves taking the car to a workshop, where the issue was confirmed to be a faulty temperature sensor and a corroded connector, which were repaired for 95€.

Yeah, the temperature gauge is all over the place, jumping from one extreme to another. Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a shop?

Nah, I tried fiddling with it myself, but I just ended up making things worse. In the end, I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly – turned out the sensor was completely shot.

Appreciate the advice! I suspected as much, will bring it into the workshop. It was spot on! Faulty temp sensor and a corroded connector. 95€ later, and it's all sorted.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms on my old 2012 Vauxhall Astra. A faulty temp sensor can really mess things up! Was the temperature gauge on the dash reading crazy numbers too?
