Zoe high voltage system error

I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Renault Zoe (electric engine). I keep getting a 'High-voltage system error' message. The error is stored in the memory, and sometimes the engine just shuts off, or the power is significantly reduced. I've checked the obvious stuff like fuses, but no luck. Anyone experienced something similar?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I drive a Zoe as well, and I had almost the exact same symptoms a few months ago. The 'High-voltage system error' message, the sudden power loss... it's all ringing a bell. Did you by any chance notice if it happens more often after a full charge, or when the battery is low? In my case, it was like a ticking time bomb, always waiting for the worst moment to surprise me. But if you are lucky, it is just a loose electrical wiring.

That's interesting! I haven't really paid attention to the charge level when it happens. I will keep an eye on that. What was the cause of your problem? I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can fix myself before taking it to a mechanic. Is it an inverter issue or some other electrical fault, maybe a defective high voltage battery?

Okay, so in my situation, the culprit was indeed related to the battery system. Apparently, one of the battery modules was heavily discharged and starting to fail, causing the whole system to freak out. I would strongly advise against trying to fix this yourself, as high-voltage systems can be extremely dangerous. I highly recommend taking it to a qualified workshop that specializes in electric vehicles. They'll be able to properly diagnose the issue and ensure a safe repair.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I will definitely take it to a specialized workshop. I got the error fixed! Apparently, the battery module was indeed defective. The repair cost me 290€, and the car runs smoothly now.
