Function of the intake manifold pressure sensor
The intake manifold pressure sensor is used with electronic engine control systems. Engines with a pressure sensor usually are injection engines. The sensor continuously supplies data on intake manifold pressure (measured in the intake tract/intake manifold) to the engine control unit. This data is used to calculate the air density in the intake tract and to measure the engine's air volume. This is used to determine the fuel delivery for optimum combustion. In fuel-injected engines, a MAF sensor or a pressure sensor is usually used to determine the amount of air drawn in. However, it is also possible that both sensors are installed. The intake manifold pressure sensor can be used for diagnostic purposes, as it measures the performance of the throttle valve and the turbocharger, as well as detecting leaks in the intake manifold.
