2002 Ford Windstar Wiper Malfunction, Warning Light, and Stored Fault - Possible Windshield Wiper Relay Problem

Hey! I've got a 2002 Ford Windstar with a Gasoline engine showing some strange symptoms and I could use your wisdom! The wipers are misbehaving, there's a stored fault, and oddly enough, a warning light in the speedometer is on. I suspect the windshield wiper relay could be causing the issue but I wanted to check with you lot. Anyone experienced something similar and how did your mechanic fix it? Would love to hear about your experiences. Cheers!

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Ford Windstar is experiencing wiper malfunction, a warning light on the speedometer, and a stored fault, potentially due to a windshield wiper relay issue. The problem might also be caused by a defective cable connection or a faulty switch, especially following recent maintenance. Suggested solutions include checking for loose connections or disrupted parts, which are often quick fixes.

Hey there! I've had a similar issue with my 2000 Ford Galaxy. Not an auto expert, but I've got some experience from wrenching on these old Fords. Turned out to be a defective cable connection in my case. My trusty local workshop took care of it, and it set me back €155. By chance, has your Windstar got any recent changes or maintenance? Sometimes newly installed parts could cause complications. Sharing more details about your vehicle might be useful for a more accurate diagnosis. Hope this helps!

Hey! Interesting to hear about your Galaxy. Seems like old Fords share a thing or two in common. My Windstar's done about 87952km now, and I got her serviced not too long ago. However, this wiper issue popped up afterwards. I kept the maintenance pretty straightforward, but maybe, like you said, something got disrupted. It's back to the workshop for me, it seems. I'm just crossing my fingers it won't cost an arm and a leg! Thanks for your advice!

No worries! I reckon it could just be something minor like a loose connection or a faulty switch. In my experience, these old Fords are pretty hardy; they just need a bit of TLC every now and then, like all of us. With your recent service, it's quite possible something just got knocked loose. Fortunately, that’s often a quick fix. Whatever it is, hope your workshop sorts it out without charging too much. Fingers crossed for ya, and let us know how it turns out!

Cheers, bud! Hearing your experience leaves me feeling a bit more optimistic. From your mouth to my mechanic's ears about it being a quick fix! And I absolutely agree, these old buggers are pretty sturdy but occasionally demand a little extra attention. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on how it pans out. Thanks for the helpful chat!
