2012 Multivan: Blower problems, warning light and possible defective solar sensor

Hi guys, I need your help please. I drive a 2012 VW Multivan with a gasoline engine and already 205,462km on the clock. It is currently causing a few problems. The blower is not running properly, there is insufficient cooling and heating, and a warning light in the speedometer has also come on. I think it could be a faulty solar sensor. Have any of you had similar problems and could tell me your experience at the garage? Unfortunately, I didn't get a good impression during my last visit to the garage, so I'm a bit worried. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I had a similar situation with my 2015 Jetta. The problem was not the solar sensor, but the blower system itself. The service technician had to replace the blower and some related parts. The warning light also showed accompanying problems in the engine cooling system. Your description sounds like a similar problem, but of course it's best to have it checked by a professional. The whole thing was a serious problem, but after the repair everything worked fine again. So don't drive yourself too crazy, but get it checked as soon as possible. Stay safe out there!

Hi, thanks for your reply! It's reassuring to hear that you had a similar problem with your Jetta and that it was solved. I wouldn't have expected it to be the blower and some related parts rather than the solar sensor. Could you perhaps remember what you paid for the repair at the garage? And have there been any other problems since the repair or has everything run smoothly? Thanks again for your help! Stay safe out there too!

Hello again! I'm glad that my information was of some help to you. After the visit to the mechanic, the solar sensor was actually repaired and since then everything has been running smoothly again. Regarding the costs, I paid €155 to fix the faulty wiring harness. As for the Jetta, there have been no further problems since the repair and I've had no additional worries. So, don't worry too much, these things happen and then your vehicle will run like clockwork again. Take good care of yourself and have a safe journey!

Hello, thanks again for the explanations! That really helps me. It's reassuring to know that it was just the wiring harness and that everything has been running smoothly for you since then. 155 is definitely more reasonable than I expected. I will take my Multivan to the mechanic as soon as possible and hopefully everything will be running as it should. I really appreciate your help with this. Take good care of yourself too and I wish you continued trouble-free driving with your Jetta!
