2022 Seat Tarraco Wiper and Headlight Cleaning System Malfunction: Seeking Reliable Mechanic Recommendations

Hey everyone! Hope you're all well! Got a bit of a problem with my 2022 Seat Tarraco, Diesel engine, just passed the 52931 KM mark. Recently, my wipers have been acting up and the headlight cleaning system isn't working. I got a hunch it’s a Windshield wiper switch issue. Had a bit of a raw deal with my last mechanic, so I'm a bit wary. Anyone here had similar problems and what was your experience getting it sorted? Hoping to find a reliable mechanic without breaking the bank. Any recommendations or experiences you could share would be top! Thanks, folks.

Hey there! Sounds like you're having the exact same problem I had with my 2019 Seat Leon not too long ago. The issue turned out to be a defective steering column switch cable connection. My wipers and headlights started going haywire after hitting around the 55K KM mark, just like you with your Tarraco. The mechanics at the garage I go to figured out the cause after checking the electrical wiring connections related to the windshield wipers and headlight systems. Fixing it involved removing the steering wheel to access the column switch cable which caused slight downtime, but apart from that, it wasn't a massive or complex job. Also, the issue was a serious one since it was causing other accessories connected via the same cable to also malfunction, so getting it sorted ASAP was necessary. Ended up being pretty glad that I got it looked at when I did. It's definitely important to find a trustworthy mechanic, so hope you do soon. Hope this helps you and good luck!

Hey! I really appreciate your help. It sounds like your situation with your Seat Leon mirrored mine pretty closely with the Tarraco. I guess I was on the right track thinking it was a switch issue. Just out of curiosity, any idea how much you ended up paying to get the steering column switch cable connection remedied? Also, since getting it fixed, have you noticed any other glitches or odd behavior that popped up? I'm just trying to be prepared for anything that could come around the corner. Thanks for sharing your experience. Cheers!

Hey! Absolutely, similar situations for sure. As for the cost, it wasn't too bad considering the importance of the fix. I shelled out 155€ to sort out the Steering column switch cable connection. That's about the ballpark you can expect. And, since I've gotten that sorted out, the Windshield wiper switch has been behaving much better, no more unusual act ups. The repair really did the trick, it's been business as usual since then. So if those symptoms kick back in, it's probably another gremlin under the hood! Anyway, hope this gives you a bit of peace of mind. All the best with getting your Tarraco sorted out. Cheers!

Awesome! That's such a relief to hear. 155 € isn't too steep, especially for something as vital as the wiper and headlight systems. Your feedback has definitely made me feel a lot calmer about the whole situation. Seems like it's gonna be a routine fix; fingers crossed, no other gremlin shows up in my Tarraco! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and help me out. You've helped me go from fretting to feeling confident about getting this problem solved. Time to book an appointment with the mechanics now, I reckon. Catch you around! Thanks again and Cheers!
