370Z Transmission Control Unit Failure

I'm having transmission issues with my 2008 Nissan 370Z, gasoline engine model, with about 61149 km on the clock. The paddle shifters are unresponsive, and the gearbox is slipping and shifting erratically. I'm also hearing grinding noises during gear changes, and the paddle shifters react extremely slowly. The gearbox has even gone into emergency mode a few times. I pulled the error codes, and it seems to indicate a faulty transmission control unit. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Wow, that sounds eerily familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my 370Z a while back. The slipping, the grinding… it was awful. I remember thinking the paddle shifters felt like they were connected to nothing. Was it throwing any specific codes, or just generally pointing at the control unit?

The error codes were pretty specific to the control unit being defective. I'm wondering if you ended up replacing the whole transmission, or if you were able to just swap out the control module itself. What was the final solution in your case?

I ended up biting the bullet and taking it to a reputable workshop. They confirmed it was the control unit. I know it's not ideal, but I wouldn't recommend trying to fix it yourself unless you really know what you're doing with automotive ECUs. I'd suggest you visit one as well to get professional advice.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a shop and they confirmed the control unit was indeed the culprit. Ended up costing me around 1000€ for the replacement and labor. Appreciate you sharing your experience!
