806 Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Peugeot 806 diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, with an error memory indicating a defective engine control unit (ECU). A potential cause could be a defective main relay, which can affect the ECU's readings. It is suggested to have the vehicle properly diagnosed before considering ECU replacement, as a defective relay was identified and repaired, resolving the issue.

Wiring harness looks okay. So, did you end up replacing your ECU, or was it something else?

I was fearing the worst and prepared to replace the ECU, but the workshop identified a defective main relay. Apparently, it's a common issue and can mess with the ECU's readings. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed before dropping serious cash on a new ECU.

Thanks, I'll take it to a workshop. It was indeed a defective relay. Cost me 120€ to repair. Appreciate the help!

Whoa, ECU problems are never fun! I had similar symptoms on my 806 – loss of power and the error codes were all over the place. Before you go tearing into the ECU, have you checked the wiring harness for any corrosion or loose connections? That can sometimes cause weird issues.
