Thanks for sharing your experience with the headlight repair. I went through with the fix about 6 months ago and everything works perfectly now. The beam adjustment and range control systems are operating as they should. Just wondering, could you share what the total repair cost was for your A3? My mechanic charged 850 Euro for parts and labor, which seemed steep at first. Also, have you noticed any other electrical issues pop up since the repair? My control module is showing some intermittent warnings but nothing serious yet. I agree on using OEM parts. The generic servomotors look similar but dont communicate properly with the adaptive headlights system, causing more problems down the line.

After getting the headlight range control fault fixed by my mechanic, I can report the total cost was 1040 Euro. This covered the OEM servomotor replacement, labor for the complete headlight unit removal, and system recalibration. While it might seem expensive, the lighting system has worked flawlessly since the repair. The control module shows no warning messages anymore, and the light intensity stays perfectly consistent. Your 850 Euro repair cost actually sounds reasonable given the complexity of the adaptive headlight system and specialized labor required. Have not experienced any electrical issues since the fix. The headlight switch and all associated components continue working as intended. Key was having a mechanic who understood the intricacies of the headlight control module and could properly calibrate the system after installation. Good to hear youre also having success with your repair. Those intermittent control module warnings might be worth monitoring though, just to catch any potential issues early.

Thanks everyone for the helpful input. Finally got this headlight malfunction sorted last week and wanted to share my experience. Took it to a specialist who actually knew these auto-leveling systems inside out. Total bill came to 920 Euro, they replaced the servomotor and recalibrated the entire lighting system. The headlight switch and control module were thoroughly tested too. The repair process was more complex than expected: Complete removal of headlight assembly, Testing of all electrical connectors, New OEM servomotor installation, Full system calibration, Light intensity adjustment The mechanic showed me the worn components and explained how the leveling system works. Really glad I went with someone who specializes in these adaptive lighting setups rather than a general shop. Been a week now and everything works perfectly, no more unusual adjustments or warning lights. The beams stay exactly where they should and the auto-leveling responds correctly to load changes.

Had the same range control problems on my 2009 A3 2.0 TFSI. The adaptive headlights started acting erratic, with unusual height adjustments and constant warning messages. The issue traced back to a defective servomotor in the headlight assembly. The servomotor controls the light intensity and positioning through electrical connectors linked to the level control module. When it fails, the headlight adjustment system loses proper calibration. The repair required: Complete headlight unit removal, Replacement of faulty servomotor assembly, Recalibration of the adaptive headlight system, Reset of control module error codes This was a serious repair requiring specialized diagnostic equipment. The headlight switch and associated components needed thorough testing to ensure the new servomotor worked correctly with the car's electronic systems. Important to note, using non-OEM parts often leads to recurring issues. The replacement servomotor must be compatible with the vehicle's original headlight control specifications. Make sure the shop has experience with VAG adaptive lighting systems specifically, as incorrect repairs can damage other electrical components.
