Thanks for the feedback. Just had my latest service at 16044KM and they didnt spot any issues with the sunshade system. The window visor makes no sound at all when pressing controls and is completely stuck in the down position. No way to move it manually without risking damage. The UV protection is important to me since I often transport heat sensitive items, so living without it isnt really an option. Already checked all related fuses but they seem fine. Will probably need to get the motor replaced based on similar cases mentioned. Just hoping to avoid the full dealer repair cost if possible.

Based on your description, this definitely sounds like the same motor failure I experienced with my A4 sunblind system. When the sun visor motor dies completely like this, with no noise and total immobility, its usually terminal for the motor unit. While some car sunshade repairs can be fixed with basic maintenance, a completely dead motor that wont produce any sound typically means internal failure. I learned this the hard way trying DIY fixes before going to the workshop. For transporting heat sensitive items, functional sun protection is crucial. The sunblind really makes a noticeable difference in maintaining stable interior temperatures. If cost is a concern, consider checking independent workshops specializing in German car repairs. My motor replacement ended up being about 40% cheaper than dealer quotes. Just ensure they use OEM quality parts for the sun blind motor replacement. Aftermarket units can be hit or miss with these systems. The calibration process after installation is also critical for proper operation. One cost-saving tip: if your local workshop can source just the motor without the full assembly housing, that could reduce parts cost significantly. This wasnt an option in my case, but worth asking about.

Thanks for all the detailed input. After hearing about similar experiences, I think I will need to bite the bullet and get the car sunshade motor replaced. The complete lack of response from the window visor matches what others described with failed motors. Given how much I rely on the sun protection for temperature control in my car interior, trying to avoid the repair doesnt make sense long term. Will start calling some independent shops this week to compare quotes for the sunblind repair. Good tip about asking if they can replace just the motor rather than the full assembly. Even if I end up paying around 300 Euro for the fix, its worth it to restore proper function and protect the car interior. Just hope the calibration process goes smoothly once the new parts are installed.

Having some experience with Audi repairs, I encountered a similar issue on my 2007 A4 last summer. The car sunshade system failed completely, showing error codes just like yours. After diagnostic tests, the workshop found the sun blind motor was defective. The repair included replacing the entire motor unit and recalibrating the system. Total cost was 330 Euro, including parts and labor. The repair took about 2 hours. While it seemed costly, I decided to fix it because the interior accessory provides valuable UV protection, especially for rear passengers and helps prevent interior fading. The repair has held up well since then with no issues. Could you share more details about your A6: Does the sunblind make any noise when you try to operate it, Can you move it manually at all, Did you notice any warning signs before complete failure, Have you checked the fuse This information would help determine if your issue is identical to what I experienced. The sun protection systems are quite similar between A4 and A6 models of that generation.
