A7 Uneven Air Suspension Causing Multiple Issues

My A7 from 2016 (88k km, gas engine) is giving me headaches with what seems to be air suspension issues. The car sits noticeably uneven, with the front being higher than the rear. The low beams are pointing all over the place and the ride feels really bumpy. There's also a warning light on the dash. Already had some disappointing experiences with mechanics, so I'm hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with similar leveling system problems? Could this be a faulty height sensor? Looking for recommendations on what to check first and tips on finding a reliable shop that knows their way around suspension issues.

Had a similar issue with my 2019 Audi A6 where the air suspension started acting up. The uneven ride height was caused by a faulty leveling sensor control rod. The symptoms matched exactly, uneven front-to-back stance, misaligned headlights, and rough ride quality. The automotive suspension needed a complete diagnostic scan which revealed error codes pointing to the front right leveling sensor. The control rod connecting to the sensor was corroded and no longer providing accurate height measurements to the leveling system. This is a serious issue that needs addressing promptly, as it affects not just comfort but also safety and vehicle dynamics. The faulty readings from the sensor cause the air suspension to compensate incorrectly, leading to uneven wear on suspension components. The repair requires: Full system diagnostic, Testing all leveling sensors, Checking air suspension components, Verifying control rod connections, Calibrating the system after repairs Best to find a shop specializing in air suspension systems. Look for technicians with specific training on modern adaptive suspension setups rather than general mechanics.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the A6 suspension issue. This helped me understand what I might be dealing with. I ended up getting my A7 checked last week and the symptoms were indeed very similar to what you described. The load sensor was giving incorrect readings due to corrosion, causing the air suspension to malfunction. Our issues sound nearly identical, especially the uneven stance and headlight problems. Did you remember approximately how much the repair cost in your case? Also curious if youve had any other suspension issues pop up since getting it fixed?

Great to hear you got the A7 checked out. The Height control restricted warning was completely resolved after replacing the corroded control rod on the sensor. The total repair came to 110 Euro, which included the diagnostic scan and recalibration of the air suspension system. Since fixing the faulty sensor, the ride height has stayed perfectly level and the suspension system has been working flawlessly. No more issues with misaligned headlights or uneven stance. The control module is now receiving accurate readings, allowing the automotive suspension to adjust properly. Its been about 8 months since the repair and I havent experienced any other suspension issues. The smooth ride quality has been fully restored. Getting it fixed early likely prevented additional wear on other suspension components. Having a properly functioning height sensor is crucial for the air suspension system to work correctly. The relatively small repair cost was worth it to avoid more extensive suspension problems down the road.

After getting advice from the forum, I finally took my A7 to a specialized suspension shop. They diagnosed the same height sensor issue you mentioned, a corroded control rod was causing incorrect readings. The mechanic showed me the old part and it was completely rusted through. The diagnostic scan confirmed multiple error codes related to the ride height system. Total repair cost came to 780 Euro including parts, labor and system recalibration. More expensive than your repair but worth every cent. The car now sits perfectly level and the headlights are properly aligned. The bumpy ride is completely gone and the warning light disappeared after they reset the leveling system. Really glad I got it fixed before it caused damage to other suspension components. Big thanks for pointing me in the right direction with the height sensor diagnosis. The peace of mind knowing its properly repaired is invaluable.
