Thanks for sharing that experience. Had identical symptoms with my TT last summer, ABS warning light stuck on and total system failure at times. Amazing how common this malfunction seems to be with these models. My case also turned out to be the ABS control unit, not just a sensor issue like I initially hoped. The dashboard warnings were just the start of the problems. Really curious what the repair cost was in your case? Have you experienced any other transmission or ABS related issues since getting it fixed? Mine has been running smoothly for 6 months now, but always good to know what to watch out for.

Very pleased to report my S5 has been running flawlessly since getting the ABS control unit replaced. The total repair came to 1000 Euro, which covered both the new unit and the specialized programming work. The speed signal fault that was causing the dashboard warnings cleared up immediately after the repair. The transmission has worked perfectly with no issues since the fix. The input from all wheel speed sensors is now consistent and the ECM receives clean data. This means both the ABS and traction control systems operate as designed. Good to hear your TT has been trouble-free for 6 months. These control unit failures seem to be a common weak point, but once properly addressed with a quality replacement, the problem typically stays solved. The key is having the work done by technicians with proper diagnostic equipment who can properly integrate the new unit with all vehicle systems. Just keep an eye on your ABS warning light, if it stays off, the repair was successful. The dashboard should remain clear of any warning messages related to these systems.

After months of hesitation, I finally took my TT to a different mechanic specializing in Audis. The diagnostic process was much more thorough than my previous experiences. Using advanced equipment, they quickly identified the faulty ABS control unit causing the dashboard warnings. The repair took about 4 days total. They had to order a new control unit and properly program it to work with my cars ECM. The final cost was 1200 Euro, which included the part, labor, and transmission recalibration. The difference was immediately noticeable. The ABS warning light disappeared, and the traction control system works perfectly now. No more unusual system shutdowns or malfunction warnings on the dashboard. Six months later, everything still works great. The sensor readings are consistent, and the ECM operates normally. Looking back, I should have switched mechanics sooner rather than trying to save money with someone who lacked the right diagnostic tools.

Had the exact same issue on my 2009 Audi S5 last winter. The ABS warning light came on permanently and the ECM showed multiple malfunction codes. The dashboard lit up like a christmas tree eventually. Initial diagnosis revealed the ABS control unit was defective, not just a speed sensor problem. The control unit had developed internal corrosion affecting its circuit board connections. This caused the entire ABS system to shut down intermittently. The repair required removing and replacing the complete ABS control unit, as these modules cannot be repaired internally. The transmission also needed recalibration after the new unit was installed since these systems are interconnected. The job was quite serious, took 3 days at the shop due to programming requirements and testing. The new control unit needed proper coding to match the vehicle systems. Simply plugging in a new unit would not work. Would strongly recommend finding a shop with Audi-specific diagnostic equipment for this repair. Generic OBD readers often miss the underlying control unit failure and only spot the sensor codes.
