ABS Light On: Infiniti JX Hybrid Needs Expert Help

Hey everyone, having some concerning issues with my 2013 Infiniti JX Hybrid (186,914 km). My car's been acting up lately engine feels weak, and the ABS/traction control systems aren't working properly. The ABS warning light is constantly on. Had a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, so I'm a bit hesitant about going back. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms? I suspect it might be related to the ABS speed sensor's voltage supply. Any recommendations for a reliable mechanic who's good with Infiniti hybrids? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2016 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid (different model, same brand family). Last month, I dealt with almost identical symptoms sluggish engine performance and ABS/traction control warnings. My wheel speed sensor was failing, which affected both the ABS and the hybrid system's performance. Took it to my local dealership since these systems are pretty integrated in hybrids. Turned out the front right wheel speed sensor was completely shot and had corroded wiring. The sensor was actually part of the wheel bearing assembly, so they had to replace the entire unit. It was definitely a serious issue since bad ABS sensors can affect your braking performance and hybrid system efficiency. The fix sorted out both the ABS warnings and the power issues completely. If you're getting these symptoms, I wouldn't wait too long to get it checked safety systems aren't something to mess around with. Just my experience, hope it helps with your decision.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. The wheel speed sensor being part of the bearing assembly makes total sense given the symptoms. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?

Hey again! Glad I could help! Yes, everything's been running perfectly since I got it fixed. The total repair came to 170€ for the component replacement, which included fixing the faulty supply voltage for the speed sensor (ABS). The dealership did a thorough job, and I haven't had a single issue since the ABS light's gone, engine power is back to normal, and the traction control is working like a charm. It's such a relief to have it sorted, and honestly, it was worth every penny considering how important these safety systems are. The car feels like new again! If you're experiencing the same symptoms, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. Those warning lights aren't something you want to ignore. Let me know if you need any other info about the repair happy to help!

Just wanted to update everyone I took your advice and got my car checked out. Finally found a reliable mechanic who specializes in Infiniti hybrids. You were spot on about the wheel speed sensor! Mine was completely busted, and the wiring was in pretty bad shape too. The repair cost me about 190€ a bit more than what you paid, but they had to do some extra work on the corroded wiring. Got it done yesterday, and wow, what a difference! The engine's running smooth again, no more warning lights, and the ABS is working perfectly. Such a relief to have my car back to normal. Thanks again for sharing your experience it really helped me make the decision to get it fixed right away instead of putting it off. Definitely learned my lesson about not ignoring those warning lights! Really appreciate everyone's help on this one.
