ABS Warning Light and Brake Light Issues on '03 Volvo V70
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
An '03 Volvo V70 owner is experiencing issues with the ABS warning light and brake light, suspecting a faulty brake light switch. Another Volvo owner shared a similar experience, where the problem was traced to the ABS control module, but also mentioned a brake light switch issue that turned out to be a user error and was resolved without cost. The advice suggests checking both the brake light switch and the ABS control module, with a focus on the brake light switch as a potentially simple and inexpensive fix.

Hey, Looks like I'm in the same boat here with my V70. That pesky ABS light and brake warning has come up once too often. Yours truly also suspects a troublemaker brake light switch. You mentioned your mechanic nailed it with the ABS control module - how much did that set you back, if you remember? And has anything else cropped up with your XC90 since then? Appreciate the insights, guys. Keep 'em coming!

Yo, After that ABS issue, my '06 Volvo XC90 has been pretty sweet. No other major problems, thankfully. As for the cost, I can't remember the exact figure for fixing the ABS control module. Those things are not budget-friendly, I'll tell you that. Now, about your brake light switch suspicion. I had that issue pop up too, after my last post actually. Acted on it quickly though and saw a mechanic about it. Good news is it turned out to be just a user error. Better news? It didn't cost me a single dime - 0€! Yeah, you read that right. So, if your issue is indeed the brake light switch, hopefully yours will be a cheap fix too, or even free like mine! Keep your chin up, and your eye on those lights!

Thanks for the heads up. It's a relief knowing it might not be as daunting as I initially thought, especially if it's down to the brake light switch. I'm not exactly bursting with extra cash at the moment so that's a load off. Your '06 XC90 saga is giving me some hope here. Will keep an eye out and take the ol' V70 to a mechanic soon, fingers crossed it's not the ABS control module. Anyway, appreciate you guys joining in on my automotive dilemma. Will update you once it's sorted. Peace out!

Hey there, Had similar issues with my '06 Volvo XC90, diesel too. My mechanic pointed out it could be either the brake light switch, or the ABS control module. Turned out, mine was the latter. Thankfully, the mechanic I found was pretty cool, diagnosed it swiftly and got it all sorted. Wasn't a life or death issue, but definitely not something to ignore. You might wanna get that checked just in case. Hope this helps, good luck!
